Reasons for the development of cysts

There are many reasons that can cause the development of cysts on the body, such as tumors, chronic inflammatory problems, infections, defects in the proper development of organs inside the embryo and genetic conditions.

Symptoms and diagnosis of cysts

As far as the symptoms of cysts are concerned, they may not necessarily be noticeable every time. Like, at times you can feel an unusual lump that may be on breast or any other body part. But cysts on the internal organs such as liver or kidney may not cause any symptoms and can be detected through imaging studies like MRI, CAT scan et al. So, it all depends upon the location and size of the cysts. At times, the scan may be done due to some other reason but it leads to the discovery of cysts.

Types of cysts

There are hundreds of cysts that arise in human body. Some of the most common cysts are – ovarian cysts, cysts in thyroid gland, baker cysts, epidermal cysts, ganglion cysts, pineal cysts, sebaceous cysts and others.

Treatment for cysts

To analyze the treatment of the cysts, it is imperative to first know the cause that led to its occurrence and its location. Large cysts that also show some symptoms are usually removed with the help of a surgery. At times, the fluid inside the cysts is drained out with the insertion of the catheter or needle inside the cavity of the cyst that collapses it. Doctors may use radiologic imaging to know if draining is the right method of treatment or if the content of the cyst is not accessible by this method.

In case, there is any doubt about cyst being cancerous, biopsy of the capsule or the cyst wall is taken to do away with malignancy. Surgery may also be used in a few cases. Sometimes, the drained out fluid of the cyst is examined to know if it contains cancer cells.

However, if the cyst is a resultant of any chronic medical problem like fibrocystic breast condition or any other, the treatment is usually focused to treat the underlying medical problem first.

Herbal method to cure cysts

Herbs help a great deal to ensure the balance of hormones that encourage normal functioning of ovaries. Echinacea works effectively to enhance the functioning of the immune system as it increases the activity and count of white blood cells. Increased levels of these cells are useful to avoid functional cysts.

Another effective herb in this regard is milk thistle. It speeds up the process of detoxification, thereby destroying the abnormal cells and excretes the excessive hormones.

Hence, it is advisable to consult a doctor to know the type of cyst that have developed on your body and which is the correct treatment for it. They may conduct several tests to know the cause of the cysts but there is nothing to worry about as development of cysts is very much a treatable condition.
